Alex is a highly adept and experienced architect, passionate about instilling positive social and environmental change. As Head of Business Development, he drives the strategic direction of Morris+Company’s business development in the UK, Europe and beyond.

With 25 years of industry experience, Alex is highly adept in the design and delivery of complex new-build and refurbishment projects across a range of scales and sectors including Housing, Workplace, Life Science, Education, Culture, Community, Mixed-Use and Urban Design - many recognised with prestigious design awards. With a particular interest in placemaking, he specialises in the design of high-quality buildings and places in challenging urban environments.

Alex’s focus lies in new business development, taking an overview across our whole portfolio, and working closely with our internal new business team and studio leads to develop and grow the business. He also runs a studio seeking to expand our reach into emerging sectors, sub-sectors and geographies, with a current focus upon Europe. Recent projects secured via design competition include ILO in Brussels, and Somerville College (The Ratan Tata Building) in Oxford, both led by Alex.

Other recent projects include Aberfeldy Village in Tower Hamlets (280 new homes across 4 plots in a wider masterplan); Brocklebank Lodge in Barking and Dagenham (a 100% affordable housing development also accommodating specialist housing for people with autism); and Old Kent Road in Southwark (a 450-home housing-led mixed-use development within the Old Kent Road Opportunity Area). As a Design Director, Alex regularly reviews all live projects across the practice.

Beyond the practice, Alex has lectured widely across the UK, and is an external examiner at UCA Canterbury, and a visiting critic at several universities including The London School of Architecture, London Met, and Newcastle University. He also acts as a jury member across several design awards panels, including The Pineapples. Alex graduated from Newcastle University with First Class Honours and was awarded the William Bell Travel Scholarship Award for Outstanding Design Thesis Work.
